The Trial Of The Housewife

Evelyn, the daughter of a wealthy family, broke ties with her family for fifteen years to marry Julian, a man of modest means. She used all her savings—10 million—to support her husband’s startup and willingly stepped back to become a full-time housewife. She thought she had married for love, but she had no idea that her husband had long been keeping a mistress, Sabrina, on the side. Over the course of four years, he had transferred 5 billion in assets and had even drafted a $100,000 divorce settlement to cast her out onto the street. Everything came crashing down after a single warning from her driver just before he quit—hidden in a secret compartment in the trunk of her Mercedes were property deeds, bank transfer records, and photos of her pregnancy. Instead of making a scene, Evelyn calmly laid out her strategy and publicly exposed her husband and his mistress at her mother-in-law’s 70th birthday banquet. After reclaiming the Carter Family Group, she joined forces with shareholders to oust Julian and take over his company; she cut off the supply of building materials and froze his assets, using a series of strategic moves to drive the betrayer into a corner. In the end, Julian sold his shares back to Evelyn for 10 million—the exact same amount as his initial startup capital—while his mistress, Sabrina, fell from a building and was left paralyzed while fighting over their child. Her fifteen-year marriage began with 10 million and ended with 10 million—not a single cent of what was owed to her would be left unpaid.
