Eleanor Prescott is the head of the powerful Prescott family. To lure the family’s mole into revealing themselves, she fakes blindness in a car accident and presents herself to the outside world as cold, promiscuous, and perverse. Her stepmother, Serena, covets the family fortune and, in an effort to control Eleanor, bribes Claire—a nursing graduate deep in debt—to act as a “sexual plaything” in Eleanor’s bed. Claire arrives at the rendezvous filled with immense shame and fear, only to discover that Eleanor is not as vicious as the rumors suggest. The two strike a secret deal: Claire stays on as a private housekeeper while also serving as a double agent planted by Eleanor to infiltrate Serena’s inner circle. As they spend time together, Claire is drawn to Eleanor’s outwardly cold yet secretly protective demeanor, while Eleanor’s heart is stirred by Claire’s innocence and purity. Through repeated tests and a tug-of-war of ambiguity, their feelings for each other deepened, transcending the boundaries of “patron and plaything” as they fell in love. But their happiness was short-lived. Serena colluded with Colin—Eleanor’s uncle, who had faked his own death—to set a fire in an attempt to expose Eleanor’s weakness. To protect Claire, Eleanor ruthlessly sent her away. After leaving, Claire opened a coffee shop but could never forget Eleanor. In a last-ditch effort, Serena and Colin kidnapped Claire to blackmail Eleanor. Eleanor went to the meeting alone, and at the last possible moment, Claire discovered that her eyes had healed (she had actually been pretending to be blind all along). In the end, under the pretext of signing a stock agreement, Eleanor—with the help of her guide dog Bella—overpowered Colin and revealed that she wasn’t actually blind. Together with her assistant Ivy, who had been working with her from the inside, she brought the two men to justice. Once the truth came to light, Eleanor confessed everything to Claire. The two put their differences behind them and embraced a happy ending filled with sweet, everyday moments.
